At just 17 years of age, Alex Rullo is a boy amongst men.
Still in high school, Rullo has become the youngest ever driver in arguably the world’s most competitive formula of tin top motorsport – Virgin Australia Supercars.
A child prodigy, this school boy’s name is already being whispered alongside legendary names such as Brock, Johnson and Lowndes…
The Perth teenager started on the go-kart circuit at the age of 10.
He joined the Rotax national championship when he was 12 and it became clear he had the talent and determination to step up to car racing.
In 2013, under the guidance of 2011 Asia-Pacific Rally Champion Alister McRae, Alex was taught to drive.
A fast learner, he was soon confident controlling a car at speed and, within months, entered an autocross event.
From there, Alex transitioned to the racetrack and, in 2014, joined the inaugural WA Excel Championship Series. He claimed the title, winning eight out of nine races.
In November 2014, the Trinity College student debuted in an ex-V8 Supercar Falcon for the Wanneroo 300.
In 2015, Alex joined the Kumho Tyres Australian V8 Touring Car Series and 0n June 14 (the day before his 15th birthday) he made motorsport history by becoming the youngest driver to ever win a national CAMS circuit racing event.
The Australian governing body of motorsport CAMS awarded Alex with the ‘Future Star’ award in December 2015.
After a successful debut season in the V8 Touring Cars, Alex Rullo created more history debuting in the 2016 VA Supercars Dunlop Development Series.
In 2016, Castrol took up major sponsorship rights and have already begun to entangle Alex’s brand amongst giants of Australian motorsport including Mark Winterbottom.
In 2017 at just 16 years of age, Alex Rullo became the youngest driver in Virgin Australia Supercars Championship history.
